Some very strong good points and some weak points as well
I got this razor for my loving him. His findings are that this is a very good razor. He is most impressed with the job it does of quickly and smoothly removing his whiskers. He also likes the floating head.
On the down side, he tells me that he finds the shape of the razor somewhat irritating, in that the shaving head is on a different plane than the handle. This make shaving not quite so straight forward as it would be with a regularly shaped razor. An even worse problem is that he does have some facial hair, and he finds that the large shaving head is harder to maneuver easily around the hairs that he wishes to keep.
So, in his opinion, this razor has some very strong good points, and some weak points as well.

What a shaver
After using a blade (or 4) for over 35+ years, I decided to go electric. Best thing I ever did concerning shaving. I thought I couldn't get as close as a blade...WRONG. It will get as close as a blade. No skin irritation. I don't mind shaving (after a shower at night and then) again in the morning. Other brands must use their cleaning solution; this is easy: hand soap & water. The head pivots in all directions, pop up trimmer. The ES-LA93 comes with it's own bowl for cleaning & storage, but is it worth $100. more? For me no. I got a really good price from an Amazon dealer, so this one was even more attractive. It's a wet/dry shaver so I use shaving gel then shave. Very smooth. I'll use this until it dies. Then buy another. No more blades for me.
Great Razor
Been shaving with a blade for the last 38 years. Never found an electric razor that could give me a close shave over my entire face and neck including the best models from Remmington, Norelco and Braun. All god razors but did not give me the shave I needed. Reading the reviews all over the internet, I wanted to try the new Panasonic. The wet shave really had me interested but the price was way too high for an experiment. Amazon's $100 discount led me to take a chance. Very good shave from day one. After a month it is a great shave! As my face adjusts it gets better and better. Just using water on my face,this razor gives me a shave that is 98% as good as a blade without irritated and sore skin. My facial skin feels and appears much better. If you get a sale you will get a great shave and a better deal. If not on sale, you still get a great shave.
Shave review
This shaver is a very good product. I especially like how the head pivots as it moves and contours to my face. It had good blades and is easy to clean. It holds a charge for a long time and is light and easy to use. I would recommend this shave to anyone. I have a light beard and only shave a couple times a week. But I think it would work fine for any guy, regardless of how often they have to shave.
How close do you want to get?
The first thing I should say is that you can get as close as you want. Closer than a blade, because with a blade if you add pressure, you get nicks and cutes.
Do you want to get so close that your skin will feel extremely raw? Do you want to get even further beyond where you start bleeding? Even further beyond, I've gotten so close that I've taken out my epidermis, my skin is raw to the bone and I have no hair, smoother than a babies behind; their legs.
How quick is the shave? Well if you just want a quick shave, this thing will give it to you. I got a good shave in less than a minute. At 14,000 micro-vibrations you can basically get a good shave in a minute. Very fast, very quick, very impressive. The head is huge, so that means you can cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time.
Do you want a comfortable shave? Dang, this thing is very very comfortable. It felt like I was rubbing my face with a cloud. Yes, the blades spin that fast that it feels like you've got some kind of cloudy heat pad on your face. Rubbing it up and down, no irritations, very comfortable. Now if you shave for a while, it will get hot. And, if you shave for a while, your skin will get raw and a little irritated. All depending on how close you want to get. Basically, you won't get any irritations if you shave quick; for those with sensitive skin, do not shave for a long period of time. This shaver is very good for sensitive skin.
Does it clean? Yes, put liquid soap on the top, run for a few seconds, and run it under the water. The shaver comes with instructions on how to properly clean. I will also take the top off and rinse off the blades; accidentally hit the blades to the sink while they were on; ouch. It still works though. Then soak the top in alcohol if you want, or set to dry.
The neck? "Conquered the skies, conquered Mount Everest, conquered the moon, CONQUERED the neck," (Phillips commercial) But, the Panasonic es-la63-s also conquers the neck. I'm going to be honest, it does take a while to shave the neck, but it gets very close, I was surprised. I had to pull back some of my skin and shave in 100 different directions, but I finally got all of the neck and the only hair remaining is the Adam's apple which is too sensitive to shave to the bone.
It has an LCD screen that tells you how long you have been shaving. And, don't worry about dropping it because it has an incredible grip.
Last comments, don't shave in the shower, you can if you want, but my experience was that the water slowed down the blades and couldn't get a good shave. You can use shaving cream to shave though, the blades won't slow down unless you run it through water which includes the shower. Also, my hair type is fast growing hair, not very rough or tough, but still a bit of a challenge. This blade didn't slow down when cutting my hair.
